The project, which started in
1990, aims to conserve and manage the Philippine Eagle and other
birds of preys. The Philippine Eagle (PE) Integrated Plan
provides the framework for the conservation and management of
PE. The Project maintains the Center for Philippine Raptors
(CPR) at Los Baņos, Laguna.

As of 17June
2008, the Project maintained at the CPR 59 individuals
belonging to 14 species of raptors which includes one (1)
Philippine Eagle.
·
Continuously
mobilized the 11 Regional Eagle Watch Teams nationwide that
conduct regular monitoring of the eagle in its natural habitat.
As of May 2008, there are a total of 189 eagles were sighted
in 94 areas in the wild.

Conducted the
health assessment of captive raptors on 28-29 April 2008. Six
(6) birds were found to be infected with Aspergillosis and
underwent a 2-week medication.

Celebrated the
Philippine Eagle Week (June 3-11, 2008) through the following
activities: (i) Biodiversity lecture and film showing was
conducted at Brgy. Sta. Elena, Sto. Tomas, Batangas; (ii)
photo-exhibit installed at SM North Edsa; (iii) released in the
morning of 6 June 2008 four (4) Serpent Eagles at the Center for
Philippine Raptors in collaboration with UPLB-CFNR Makiling
Center for Mountain Ecosystems; (iii) hanged five (5) streamers
at PAWB and DENR gates in Quezon City, and inside the UPLB
campus in Los Baņos, Laguna ; and (iv) distributed IEC materials
such as posters, button pins, Serpent Eagle flyers and some
copies of Threatened Endemic Raptors

Conducted
information dissemination/education through guided tour within
the Center of Philippine Raptors for 14,556 visitors.
·
Reproduced/distributed IEC materials such as Philippine Eagle
posters, raptor pamphlets/flyers, bookmarks and raptor fans.
·
Together with the
Philippie Eagle Foundation, organized the 1996 PE Integrated
Conservation Plan Review Workshop held at Hotel Dominique,
Tagaytay City on 5-8 February 2008.
