Presidential Proclamation No. 273 dated October 14, 2004 declared the month of October as Tamaraw month. The proclamation is intended to heighten public awareness to conserve and protect the Tamaraws “Bubalus mindorensis”, a flagship species and our banner for conservation as well as unique contribution to global species assemblage. In support of these initiatives, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-MIMAROPA and the Protected Area and Wildlife Bureau (PAWB) in close collaboration with Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Incorporated has organized a fun run for a cause dubbed as “Takbo Para Sa Tamaraw” on October 27, 2012, which will start with an opening program at 5:00 in the morning at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Nature Center (NAPWNC). The run will proceed to the Quezon City Memorial Circle and back to NAPWNC for the awarding of prizes to the first three winners.
An amount of P300 will be collected per participant for 3K and 5K run as registration fee payable to Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Incorporated. The proceeds will be used to defray expenses for the conservation and development of the Tamaraws in Mindoro particularly the repair and renovation of the hanging bridge connecting to the Tamaraw Gene Pool Farm.
