are reported to be extensive areas of forest on limestone (ironwood)

The Ten Knots Development Corporation had developed the
El-Nido Resort for eco-tourism, including birdwatching. |
| Existing status of legislation |
El-Nido Managed Protected Area was proclaimed by virtue of
Proc. No. 32 on October 8, 1998.
Mainland Palawan and its associated islands are included in a
Biosphere reserve, Environmentally Critical Areas Network (ECAN), to
zone the island, which incorporates the existing El-Nido Marine
Sanctuary and other protected areas. This includes terrestial core
zone (primitive wilderness and strictly protected) and buffer zone
(regulated use allowed) areas.
